PARIS, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- France on Tuesday asked the United Nations' Security Council to respond over alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria, reiterating calls for sanctions against Syrian officials, a spokesperson said.
"The use of weapons of mass destruction is a war crime and a threat to peace. Impunity is not an option," Romain Nadal, foreign ministry's spokesperson said at a daily press briefing.
"It is up to the Security Council to act. France ... continues to discuss with its partners at the Security Council to adopt a resolution to punish those responsible for these attacks," he added.
